Houston based CDL Inc, has launched a new demonstration and calibration platform that will be moored at Lake Conroe, 60 minutes north of Houston, Texas. The boat is a custom converted 30ft Pontoon boat with a 19ft cabin fully air-conditioned for comfort during demonstrations and product calibrations year round. CDL’s demonstration vessel is fitted with seating and standing areas for up to 11 passengers with a 6 foot bench in the aft cabin for monitors or work space. The bow is a custom fitted ¾” thick aluminum decking with a 21” square moon pool complete with an 8”diameter deployment pole. Also fitted to the bow is a 600lb rated davit which allows objects such as tri-pods to be lowered via the double door deck entry gates to the lake bed typically used for testing acoustic data & ranging devices such as the CDL DATUM or Metrology tooling. The boat is powered by a single Evinrude 115 HP engine which offers speeds of 15 MPH to transit to a work site location. Onboard power is taken from a 300 Ah battery pack via a 12 VDC to 110 VAC inverter to offer clean UPS power for 3rd party or CDL owned equipment. Auxiliary power is used for the Air Conditioning unit from a Gas powered Honda run silent generator to keep cabin noise to a minimum.
The vessel will be used to demonstrate CDL’s comprehensive product range from the newly released low cost Fiber Optic Gyro (TOGS) to the Digital Micro Vision (DMV) our latest in thru air video transmitting device. CDL will also offer product training on a client by client basis from the vessel to allow CDL product users to see the product range operating in a dynamic environment.
